| What's New - October 2020
In the early 1990's one of my biggest clients mostly wanted Prints. So I shot most of my images on negatives and consequently I have a large collection of negatives! Anyone who has tried to do so will know that it is often difficult to get acceptable results from scanning negatives, due largely from the high levels of "noise" associated with them. Which is why I have tended to avoid doing so!. However, our enforced lockdown this year has encouraged me to try harder. I have now managed to perfect a technique to get significantly more acceptable results from the negatives.
As a result, I have since been busy digitizing some of my 35mm negative images from my Hong Kong days and am in the process of adding another 250 new Phorographic Prints to the site using these images. The Magazine editors I dealt with wanted transparencies, so I started carrying a third camera with transparency film in it and evantually switched almost wholly to that medium. For set piece photography I often used 6X7cm transparency film in my Mamiya RZ-67 as well. Scanning from transparency film can give significantly better results.
The following montages show some of the new images to give you an idea of what I have been adding.

| | | | | | Most of the major Airlines have been phasing out their Boeing 747's over the last five years or so. The Pandemic has accelerated their departure and few are left now. In the first montage of new Prints I have focused upon some of the Boeing 747 Prints that I have added, but there will be many more on the site when I have finished the update. In its heyday,as well as being a destination in its own right, Kai Tak was a major Boeing 747 hub for many airlines staging to destinations in Asia. |
| | | | In the 1990's many Asian Airlines were operating a variety of McDonnell Douglas aircraft, from the iconic Dc-8's to the state of the art MD-11's. In the second Montage I have included some of the new Photographic Prints covering McDonnell Douglas aircraft used by many of the Airlines operating into and out of Kai Tak in Hong Kong. |
