Cathay Pacific Boeing 747-267B, registered VR-HKG (Msn 21746 Ln 385), on Short Finals for Runway 13 at Kai Tak International Airport on Monday 1 January 1996, with Hong Kong's famous Lion Rock landmark in the background.. VR-HKG was the first B747 operated by Cathay. She joined the fleet on 20 July 1979 and served right through until Cathay retired the fleet in 1997, when she was sent to California for storage. She was eventually broken up in October 1999.
